Founded in 1980 by Dr. Craig Griffin, Animal Dermatology Clinic (ADC), was the first private practice approved for a residency program by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD). Over the last 30 years, there have been over twenty board certified veterinary dermatologists that have successfully completed residencies through ADC's formal program. Expansion efforts to treat veterinary dermatology cases have included fourteen full-time clinics and over thirty satellite locations throughout the United States, Australia and New Zealand. In September 2016, ADC announced accreditation of their residency teaching program at Massey University, Palmerston North in New Zealand to continue with their world-renowned advancement in veterinary dermatology including ear diseases and allergies.
