Alutiiq's Logistics, Operations and Maintenance (LO&M) Division provides management oversight of the U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps contracts with Alutiiq Professional Services, LLC and Alutiiq Education and Training, LLC. Job Corps is an education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. The program services youth between the age of 16-24 and assists them with developing career development skills to obtain long term placement or continuing education. Job Corps is the nation's oldest residential, educational and training program. Originally formed in 1964 under the Office of Economic Opportunity, it has successfully trained more than 2.0 million young people. Job Corps is divided into six regions, each made up of several states. There are more than 124 campuses nationwide, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Job Corps is operated as public-private partnership. The government provides facilities and equipment for the Centers. Private companies and several other federal agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service, Parks Service, Bureau of Reclamation and Fish and Wildlife, contract with the Department of Labor to operate the Centers, recruit young men and women and provide job placement services. Alutiiq employs a unique approach, integrating academic, vocational and social skills training in a residential program. This gives young people a chance to change their lives and obtain realistic work experience and life skills.
