Advantage is a place where individuals can get out of it what they put into it. Over my years working at AMG, I noticed a trend that rewarded optimism, innovation, and ownership. All of this speaks to it being a company which is made up of individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset. If you are self-motivated and excited by 'new', it's an environment in which you'll thrive. Expect to work on high-profile projects for clients the world over. This is not a mom-and-pop operation (although it is completely privately owned and home-grown). The projects will command high performance for individuals of significant standing. I believe the CEO cares deeply about creating opportunities for both clients and team members. His passion is this business and fashioning it into a unique operation that offers innovative products and employs innovative individuals. An emphasis is put on 'team', and that shows in the caliber of individual employed by Advantage and the company's cultural footprint. The hiring process is rigorous, but that approach is immediately validated when you meet the team at AMG. The single best thing about working at Advantage is the people under that roof. You feel like you're on an all-star team with some of the brightest minds and nicest folks you'll ever meet. Another real benefit of working at Advantage was the personal and professional development opportunities. The company insists its team acquires a certain amount of pro-dev hours per year, and offers plenty of opportunities for it (lunch and learns, breakout meetings, etc.) Careerwise, individuals can grow with this company, and team members are granted the opportunity to explore roles within the company. The office is gorgeous, situated in one of Charleston's proudest structures, the People's Building, offering unique views of Charleston's harbor and cityscape. The benefits are very generous. In summation, the experience I had working at Advantage was overwhelmingly positive. It was not without its ebbs and flows, as is the case with any growing company. Ultimately, I was fortunate to be a part of a fast-growing company that was doing something very innovate in the publishing/marketing space.

Not necessarily as a con, but something anyone exploring the company should know: Advantage has a culture that is very deliberate. Don't expect to come in and be exempt from buying into it. These cultural touches (for example, daily standups, team cheers, being tested on knowing core values) can feel a bit too "rah-rah" for certain folks. But it's something the leadership believes will foster an important bond, so just know it's a part of the experience. Advantage is also a very kinetic place -- change is the norm. Remember, this is a place that oozes entrepreneurialism, so leaping at opportunities, coming up with new ideas, and thrusting them into action is par for the course.
