CAN currently serves students at Chief Sealth International, Franklin, Garfield, Highline, Nathan Hale, Mount Rainier, and West Seattle public high schools in Seattle and South King County. CAN's impact reaches beyond the 700 students in our intensive program - we also work to increase the college-going culture throughout the schools we serve by hosting and participating in many school-wide college, financial aid, and career focused events. We also have an open door policy - any student who drops into CAN's offices at the schools can receive support, advice, and resources. CAN's High School Services walks students step-by-step through career exploration, college identification, standardized test preparation, college and financial aid application, and enrollment processes. CAN's AmeriCorps College Coaches provide support and weekly after school sessions to groups of approximately 35 students each. CAN staff and volunteers provide additional individualized and group support to CAN students during their junior and senior years of high school. When a CAN student is accepted to college our team ensures that students have a good understanding of available financial aid and scholarships, help them make a choice about where to attend, and then guide them through following up on that choice and creating a plan for living and learning when they start.
They do business with integrity and rational thinking. Overall, it's an excellent place to work, with products that are winning in the marketplace.
Wonderful individuals who truly care about what they're doing. The objectives of CAN are carried out daily by those involved in making a difference in the lives of students.
Very small organization (though growing), so not a lot of room for growth and new opportunities within the company.
